How Much Does a Junior Rower Lift in a Season? (part 2)

A few weeks ago I posted about the amount of weight one of my clients lifted as a club, and accross the age groups. Of course, I included the limitations in the accuracy of the numbers. Limitations such as reporting compliance, or sheer forgetfulness. As I prepare for the next season, I decided to come back to this topic to get more perspective. Interestingly, Masters rowers are included in these figures. This may interest some of you, and others would rather not know (depending on acitivity levels!). So lets dig into part 2 of "how much does a junior rower lift in a season?"

Programming Details

As previously outlined in part 1, there are subtle details to programming that influence the numbers. However by comparison, some limitations in these numbers included:

  • Different equipment (cable machines/olympic lifting kit etc.)
  • Different schedules (time dedicated to S&C per team)
  • In person coaching - I was coaching in person for each S&C session in Part 1
  • Different facility access and location

Everything else was the same as reported in part 1.

By the Numbers

As before, the reporting of sessions varied greatly. The quality/consistency of reporting varried from as low as 2% to as high as 93%. As the saying goes, words speak, numbers scream.

Overall some insights are provided into what a female masters rower can lift in a season. This figure was reported with 93% compliance so it has high reliability attached to it. Similarly the high figure from the junior 18 rower had a 67% compliance score attached to it. Both figures bring us closer to a true figure for what each rower lifted on my programmes.
